2026 Puerto Vallarta Water Filter Project

The Onalaska Hilltopper Rotary Club has financially supported the Puerto Vallarta Sur/West Chester Liberty Rotary Club’s water filter distribution project for the past eight years. The connection began when Hilltopper Rotarian Mike Diveley met Ken Reiser of the West Chester/Liberty Rotary Club at a Puerto Vallarta Sur Rotary meeting nearly 10 years ago.

This year, the Hilltoppers expanded the project’s impact by partnering with the Sparta Rotary Club and securing Rotary District 6250 grant funding to help provide 600 long-term water filtration systems to families in rural communities outside Puerto Vallarta.

Many families in these rural communities rely on rivers and streams shared with domestic animals or spend a significant portion of their limited income on bottled water and sugary soda. The water filters distributed through this project provide safe drinking water, can filter up to 170 gallons per day, and last more than 10 years with proper maintenance. By eliminating the need for costly bottled water, families are able to redirect income toward food, healthcare, and education while improving overall health outcomes.
